This core is needle-punched between two strong geotextiles, a process that mechanically locks the fibers through the bentonite layer, creating exceptional internal shear strength. This robust composite structure can withstand typical subgrade stresses. Most importantly, when compromised by a puncture or a seam, the surrounding bentonite hydrates, migrates into the void, and swells to form a permanent, watertight seal, effectively "healing" the damage autonomously.
